FEATURES AND ADVANTAGES OF EPID PISTON
The diesel engine piston is a key component of the engine, it mainly plays the following important role.
In the working cycle of a diesel engine, the top of the piston is directly exposed to the pressure of high temperature and high-pressure gases generated by combustion in the combustion chamber. This pressure can be as high as several megapascals (MPa), the piston must be able to withstand this enormous force and will be converted into the crankshaft rotation power. If the piston is not strong enough, it will be deformed or even ruptured under high pressure, resulting in engine failure.
The piston is connected to the connecting rod through the piston pin. When the piston moves downward under gas pressure, it transfers the force to the connecting rod. The connecting rod then transmits the force to the crankshaft, causing the crankshaft to rotate. The rotational motion of the crankshaft is the key to the engine’s power output.
