A cylinder liner puller removes a wet or dry liner from the block without damaging the bore. It uses a expanding shoe or a threaded plate that grips the liner wall so the liner can be drawn out with a slide hammer or a hydraulic ram.

How to use a cylinder liner puller

  1. Drain the coolant and remove the cylinder head, piston and connecting rod.
  2. Clean the top of the liner and fit the puller shoe inside the bore.
  3. Tighten the expanding nut so the shoe grips the liner wall evenly.
  4. Draw the liner out with the slide hammer, keeping the puller square to the bore.
  5. Clean the block bore, check for pitting and measure before fitting the new liner.
