A liner installer is the plate and guide combination used to drive a liner home without distorting the flange. It is used together with the protrusion gauge on Weichai, Cummins, Yuchai and Baudouin wet-liner engines.

How to use a cylinder liner installer

  1. Check the block bore for scoring, pitting and erosion.
  2. Fit the liner with new seals and shims.
  3. Guide the liner in by hand, then drive it with the installer plate.
  4. Keep the plate level so the liner enters straight.
  5. Measure protrusion and record it before assembly continues.
