Signs Your Injectors Are Failing
White or black smoke, rough idle, hard starting, fuel in the oil and rising fuel consumption are classic injector failure symptoms. A leaking injector can wash a cylinder and destroy the engine, so act fast.
New vs Remanufactured Costs
New OEM injectors are the most expensive option - often several hundred USD each for common-rail engines. Remanufactured injectors tested to OEM specs typically cost 40-60% less. For older mechanical engines (Cummins 6BT/N14, Weichai WD615), OEM-grade new injectors are already affordable.
Labor and Extras
Plan for injector seals/washers, fuel filter replacement and possibly a pump calibration when replacing injectors. Buying a fuel injector seal kit with the injectors saves a second teardown.
